Changing gears

So last night I had a really great night. I went with a friend of mine to their Explorer Post meeting. His post focuses on Native American culture. I am hoping that this group is going to help me explore some other craft directions. Tonight I finished a project for a co-worker... Her necklace was broken and too short. So I changed it from two strands to one and also made her a pair of earrings. I really like how they came out...

The dragon scarf is done, butI am not thrilled with the size and shape of the head.. so it will be getting frogged and then I will re-do it with hopefully better porportions......

was the happiest day of my life... Today was my 1 year Wedding anniversary! I can not believe that the time has gone by soooo quickly. It is impossible to think that this time last year we were at the after party, living it up with all of our friends and family. This weekend hubby and I got into the car and went to the annual fire muster in CT. Essentially it is watching crazy fire fighters in really old fire trucks just doing everything to not kill themselves and still win a trophy... It was fun but exhausting.. I am still non weight baring on the crutches and the humidity was very high. Saturday we went down to what used to be a very nice resturant in Savin Rock (New Haven). However, the place has become pretty run down and the food was not worth the price! Today (Sunday and our actual anniversary) We enjoyed cookies in bed for breakfast! Then we went into New Haven and hubby indulged me and ate at a vegitarian place. Then we went on to the Peabody Museum and got to see the fossil of the largest turtle in the world!! 10 foot wide by 10 foot 6 inches long!!! So very cool and puts our turtles to shame... After a quick tour of Yale and a failed attempt to visit a LYS (it was closed) we began our trip home.
We made very good time getting back to Long Island, so we stopped at his aunt's house to check on the impending baby that was due to be born today and to pick up the top layer of our cake. We then met up with another Aunt and Uncle whose 6 year anniversary was yesterday (Saturday). We went to Out back for dinner. I had lobster! Upon returning to their house they wanted to watch as they indulged in a tradition... And here is how it goes.....

Wedding Cake thawed and unwrapped...

Wedding Cake cut and bites taken...

Wedding Cake in its final resting place... (the garbage)

It tasted pretty bad, but we did convince his aunt and uncle to try some... We all had a pretty bad taste in our mouths!!!

This weekend I was also able to answer an age old question... How much can you knit between New Haven and Melville, NY (about 2 hours)
Answer:

It will be a hat to match one that I had previously knit for a mom to be.... hopefully I will finish it before the baby arrives...

Its been a while..

So, I guess that it has been awhile and there are lots and lots of newly finished projects. I am back to work after having my knee surgery..

Updates:
MSK3: taken a trip to the frog pond and it may be staying there for a while.
Missing baby booty: yarn has finally arrived to make a matched pair. The mom to be loved it so much that she asked for a matching hat for herself!

New projects:
"Grow with me" from knitty.com The pattern on the bodice was written wrong so it does not come out the way the designer wanted it too... But I still like how it came out.

"Thycus" also from knitty.com I really enjoyed working on this pattern. I used short-rows for the first time

Fingerless Gloves from knitpicks.com They were knit for someone else who I am not sure they are going to appreciate them. I was sad to part with them when I was finished

"Branching out" This project hasnt been finished yet. While I was out of work for my surgery a co-worker gave me a beautiful skein of handpainted silk and mohair from Art yarns. With it i am making a great lace scarf from knitty.com

And finally on the swapping front, I have joined sock wars and the international scarf exchange 5. I know that I am in for an certain early death in the sock wars, but I think that it will be fun!

Ok, well that is enough for now.... Dont really know if anyone is reading this...
